An in-person VIP event was first announced by EHzZ in late 2022. The event was cancelled twice.

First Fashion Show

On November 16, 2022, the EHzZ brand announced an in-person Spring/Summer collection fashion show for high spenders, date unspecified. This event was previously alluded to in an announcement in early November for the 11/11 shopping fest (China equivalent of black Friday) that stated the top 800 spenders would have the chance to attend a brand event.

Those invited to the event were required to provide their personal information before November 23, otherwise they were considered to forfeit their invitation. This includes name, ID number, phone number, address, email, HK/Macau/Taiwan ID numbers (for HK and Taiwan residents), passport number (for international residents). The event was cancelled on December 7, with pandemic control given as the reason. Fans who received an invitation were once again asked to provide their name, address, and phone number before Dec 15 to receive the event gifts in the mail. However, international fans were not told that the gifts cannot be shipped internationally. The gift consisted of a notebook, a postcard, and a keychain.

Second Fashion Show

On February 9, 2023, the EHzZ brand announced the Spring/Summer collection launch event in five days, on Feb 14. High spenders received invitations in their WeChat. Event location was Ansa International Conference Center in Huangpu District, Shanghai. The announcement stated that attendees are not permitted to bring any electronic or recording devices, including phones. It did not state who from the brand would be present at the event, but the day before the announcement, photos and video of ZSJ arriving at the Shanghai airport were released. Fans became convinced that they would see Zhang Zhehan in person at the event. Out of town fans proceeded to make last minute travel plans, rushing to arrive in Shanghai before the 14th.

In the next two days, a large number of unconfirmed screenshots from ticket scalpers advertising the event emerged. Some scalpers specified that the real Zhang Zhehan would not be at the event but a very close copy.

On Feb 12, EHzZ announced privately that the event was cancelled, citing "safety reasons." The cancellation notice was first distributed as a screenshot on 9:14 pm, set for "preview" only, already read by 130 people. It was widely distributed to group chats and shared on Weibo. At 9:17 pm the link to the cancellation notice was posted but cannot be found on the EHzZ WeChat mini-program or official page, only viewable to those with the direct link. The EHzZ official account still contains the announcement for the event.

The earliest posting of the preview was on a Shenzhen teashop WeChat customer service account at 9:25 pm.

Fans who visited the conference center noticed that it was being setup for a bank's event on the 13th. Since EHzZ's event was originally scheduled for afternoon of the 14th, they would have had only half a day to setup the event space and no time for rehearsals.

On the 14th, despite the cancellation of the event, many fans both local to Shanghai and those who travelled from out of town gathered outside the conference center. A large display of identical bouquets were sent to the venue. Fans dressed in EHzZ clothing took group photos outside. Some fans who flew in from out of town were extremely distressed by the cancellation.

The chairman of Ansa Conference Center made an appearance to ask fans to vacate the premises. He spoke for 10 minutes, first stating that the event was "missing some procedures" then claiming that it was cancelled because of "60-70 reports per day to the city hotline."[1]

The Shanghai MCT has no record of complaints filed for this event.

Ansa Conference Center

The company that owns and operates Ansa Conference Center is over RMB 500,000 in debt. Their social media account has been following a number of ZSJ fan accounts.

The company was given a RMB 200,000 penalty in 2022 for using names or images of governmental agencies or their employees without authorization.

The owner of the company 齐慧青 is a member of CAPA.
